Job Announcement

Do you want to work in a role that is integral to the success of the Children, Youth and Families (CYF) division which provides child welfare services for the largest and most diverse county in Virginia? This position will manage and share data for key CYF programs and initiatives to inform decision-making and service delivery to children and families. In this role, you will be part of a team that:

  • Cleans, reconciles and analyzes data
  • Creates reports with findings, including narrative and visual elements
  • Works with staff to ensure data are entered accurately and timely
  • Trains and consults with staff to promote an understanding of the role of data and outcomes in child welfare
  • Organizes, coordinates and performs a variety of project-based quantitative and qualitative analysis and research
  • Supports special studies and research initiatives by benchmarking, developing data collection and analysis tools, reviewing records, and conducting literature reviews
  • Supports process improvement and strategic planning initiatives.
To be successful, you will need:
  • Ability to aggregate and assimilate data to identify major patterns, trends and themes regarding organizational and program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ability to use word processing and presentation software to prepare documents, and to use spreadsheet and statistical analysis software packages to store, manipulate, analyze and present data.
  • Ability to perform a variety of fact-finding techniques (e.g., interview, case analysis, observation, research, benchmarking) to gather information in support of programs, projects, studies, assessments and evaluations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to identify possible solutions for solving business problems.
  • Basic knowledge of mission, goals and objectives of the organizational unit, program or activities to which incumbent is assigned.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques governing management, organization, operations and programmatic services.

Note: The assigned functional areas of the position are Quality Assurance, data analysis, statistics, child welfare, human services, and/or public administration.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
None.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services Registry check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive knowledge of data management, analysis and reporting. Knowledge of child welfare services. Experience assisting public organizations with data-informed decision-making.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sufficiently mobile to attend meetings off-site as needed. Ability to use automated technology. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

Panel Interview and may include a practical exercise.
