(NLT), an industry-leading full-stack data science engineering consultancy based in Washington DC, is currently seeking full-time Geospatial Analysts to join a team of talented scientists and technology professionals building and managing information solutions that support missions critical to our nation’s communities, environment, economy, and public safety.
Candidates will work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment among a team of talented and dedicated tech professionals across a variety of fields and customers including Emergency Management, Operational Intelligence, Remote Sensing, Geospatial Information Systems, Information Technology, and more. Candidates will work with our growing interdisciplinary team and will perform GIS, imagery and remote sensing analysis, design and document workflows and scripting, help design and maintain geospatial databases and advice on the development of workflows and data pipeline solutions. The candidate will help access, organize, review and publish complex geospatial data and analytics within operational environments for a range of missions, including information assurance, atmospheric and Earth sciences, economics, and more. Working closely with specialists in cloud administration and DevOps, the successful candidate will support the full lifecycle of NLT`s operations, including gathering, designing, developing, testing/validating, and implementing complex data analysis processes, and visualizing complex data. i The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a large repository of nationwide geospatial data sets in vector and raster formats. These data are provided in disparate source formats, so the candidate must have experience working with both databases and APIs and possess excellent data discovery and documentation skills. The candidate will be responsible for data storage and secure data transfer in the cloud (AWS) and should be familiar with overcoming challenges associated with processing big data -including geospatial data. This position requires a leader, innovator, and problem-solver with solid data engineering and management experience and expertise with a range of data, including various imagery formats. This position also requires experience developing and designing new projects and solutions, coordinating projects between multiple teams with many stakeholders, and a pro-active, enthusiastic communication style.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Data management of large-scale nationwide geospatial datasets, including remote sensing imagery (SAR, LiDAR, and EO).
- Develop workflows for data storage, processing, and transfer
- Develop and automate critical geoprocessing workflows incorporating both internal data stores and live feeds
- Develop new models, data services, and predictive analytics for a range of missions
- Develop new workflows for data visualization
- Support the automation and incorporation of models into web and mobile applications, decision support tools, etc.
Skills:
- Thorough understanding of geospatial data management and analysis, including analysis of remote sensing data
- Experience working with diverse types and formats of datasets
- Ability to design methodologies and overcome challenges
- Strong skills with a variety of GIS software including ESRI ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS PostGres, PostGIS, ENVI, Google Earth Engine, etc.
- Experience with data evaluation, integration, cleansing, ETL, data processing, data warehousing, and management, etc.
- Hands-on experience programming, coding, and scripting data pipelines and processing solutions
- Strong Python skills and familiarity with geospatial Python libraries including but not limited to: arcpy, geopandas, shapely, rasterio
- Experience working with both vector and raster data, digital terrain models, weather data, imagery/remote sensing, and standard GIS data formats such as shapefiles, geodatabases, feature classes, geotiffs etc.
- Remote sensing expertise to develop, apply and automate image processing and exploitation routines, and AI/ML/DL algorithms
- Experience with remotely sensed optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite, aerial, and UaS imagery
- Experience working with different databases and data types (PostGres, SQLServer, Mongo, APIs etc.)
- Experience developing and deploying solutions in cloud-based environments including AWS
- Experience building visualizations, maps, dynamic charts, dashboards, etc.
Other:
- Experience with Earth science, social, demographic, economics, geophysics, and international work
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to work in a high-paced consulting environment
- Strong writing, communication, and documentation, presentation skills
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and have the ability to obtain and hold U.S. Government security clearance
