Job Description

This employee performs a full range of office support assignments, which may include, but not limited to the following: Maintains active Parole Violator Files for prisoners housed at RGC. Runs Parole Violation Reports. Pulls completed Parole Violator files for classification purposes. Prepares files for transfers out of RGC. Assists in creating Institutional, Counselor and Central Office records for all new commits entering the Michigan Department of Corrections. Performs photocopying, answer telephones and email inquiries regarding prisoners. Work location for this position is located within the secure perimeter of the facility and has continuous contact with unclassified prisoners. This is a drug and alcohol test designated position.

Required Education and Experience

One year of administrative support experience.
General Office Assistant E7
Two years of administrative support experience, including one year equivalent to the intermediate level.

Certain positions may require a criminal history background check.
The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
