SUMMARY
Reporting to the President/CEO, the General Manager will be responsible for the overall success of the entire branch operations with a emphasis on sales and overall revenue growth of general purpose/Construction Equipment (construction, demolition, waste management, paving, and aggregate/crushing). This role will have full operational and P&L responsibilities for the respective branch with direct oversight of sales, rental, parts and service of all Construction Equipment, transportation, and support personnel. The ideal candidate should be a problem solver, motivated, self-driven and a proven developer and leader of people with an eye on building high performing teams.
DUTIES
Sales Leadership
  • Responsible for the sales and marketing of Construction Equipment into the construction, commercial, and aggregate industries.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of market trends and conditions
  • Identify and initiate contact with and influence potential buyers in a manner that is consistent with our mission statement and core values to meet or exceed territorial and corporate business goals.
  • Obtain, diagnose, and respond to specific customer needs to enhance the quality of customer service and satisfaction and promote a mutually beneficial relationship.
  • Promote products and services to the existing customer base while expanding on that base to obtain territorial as well as corporate business goals.
  • Initiate, complete, and submit, on an accurate and timely basis sales-related reports and documentation to maintain the established business systems/processes and assist the territory, region, and company in achieving the business goals.
  • Contribute to the development, monitoring, and control of the sales forecast and expenses within the assigned territory to meet or exceed the business goals.
  • Maintain the connection with customers and develop new business in the region through relationship building and proposing region-specific initiatives for brand recognition
Operations Leadership
  • Oversee financial operations of the branch including revenues, expenses, and financial reporting
  • Manage all day-to-day operations of the branch by planning and executing on short-and long-term strategic goals
  • Oversees all operations within the branch including sales, rentals, parts, and service
  • Solid understanding of P&L management to ensure business plans are achieved
  • Promotes an encouraging and safe workplace and adheres to company policy and procedure including compliance with State, Federal, OSHA and D.O.T regulations
  • Ability to analyze and use operational information to create positive actions and results
  • Evaluate and continually improve branch performance by analyzing and interpreting KPIs, data, and metrics
  • Know and follow all company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
People Leadership
  • Builds work relationships with staff to maintain a high level of customer service and support in a positive team-oriented branch environment
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels within the branch and provides continuous coaching, training, support, and performance feedback
  • Recruit, motivate, mentor, and empower a high-performing team to achieve company goals; measure team members success on an ongoing basis and coach/take corrective action as necessary; execute a consistent performance management process with employees including reviews and goal setting

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent working experience leading and growing a similar business.
  • Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience with a focus on revenue generation/sales growth.
  • Proven quantitative experience leading and managing Construction Equipment sales, service and parts operations, P&L responsibilities, asset management, and budgeting.
  • Ability to develop, maintain and manage strong customer relationships with area construction contractors, equipment owners, and rental customers.
  • Experience representing major heavy equipment brands, including a full equipment line and products that complement earth moving equipment customers.
  • Familiarization with equipment delivery, service, repair, and parts operations.
  • Attend and participate in all meetings, training, and activities as required, and be able to work independently and/or with others in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work well under occasional pressure or within work standards and deadlines.
  • Requires minimal to light travel (approximately 35%) within the territory
  • Strong computer capabilities, including Microsoft Office, CRM, and business software is required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Strategic Planning: Competency in strategic and operational planning methods and practices, the monitoring and measurement of targeted results, resource allocation, and management practices.
  • Administration: The basic set of managerial/administrative task-management attributes involving directing, implementing, motivation, and evaluation of general work environment to accomplish specific, targeted business objectives. Strong organizational skills, including time management, prioritization, and delegation of work duties required
  • Technical Expertise: Specific business/industry job-related professional knowledge, skills, experience, and related performance attributes.
  • Drive for Results - strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive to get things done correctly with an emphasis on working with and through people in the process.
