What You'll Do:

We are seeking a strategic product leader with proven experience building and delivering best-in-class B2B SaaS data and product offerings directly to customers and via channels to a global client base. In this role, you will shape our overall product strategy, its vision, and roadmap deliverables, aligned to customer needs and market opportunity, drive its market positioning, pipeline build, sales enablement, and measure all results. You will be responsible for representing the vision of the product both internally and externally and reporting on product progress to the company and the Board of Directors. You will build an exceptional team and drive innovation with a customer-centric mindset alongside cross-functional stakeholders. You will own and drive the whole product lifecycle from design, development, launch, and market entry through to end-of-life. You'll balance customer demand and market dynamics with the constraints and opportunities of our engineering capabilities, along with managing the operations to support the sale of our products. The GM owns the product line P&Ls. This role will report directly to our CEO and be a key member on our Executive Team.

Our ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of our markets and competitors including hands-on experience with subscription data products. The GM & CPO is primarily motivated by customer satisfaction and drives (and is measured by) the financial success of the products. The position has several critical responsibilities including ensuring that HG Insights balances customer input, market opportunity, technical constraints and technical opportunities to create optimal roadmaps; properly implementing HG's product management methodology; fully defining requirements for all product offerings; creating business plans, marketing/launch plans and release plans; ensuring that a full lifecycle process is followed from product readiness to market release to launch; creating the demand for the products; assuring that the sales and customer success organizations are equipped with the necessary product knowledge, and all product related results are measured.   The GM & CPO will be key to transforming HG Insights into a product-led organization. With the CTO and CEO, this role formulates the 2-3 year product strategy and vision, and then translates this strategy into the product roadmap.  The role includes interfacing with stakeholders both externally and internally. Externally, the GM & CPO will be tightly connected with customer and prospect conversations and work with analysts and partners to publicly represent HG.  Internally, key partners and stakeholders include the CTO, EVP of Global Sales, and EVP of Data Solutions. Direct reports include product management, product design, product marketing, demand generation (lead generation and SDRs), and revenue operations.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Maintaining a constant and intimate knowledge of customer needs and competitive pressures and using this knowledge to create timely product deliverables.
  • Delivering products that meet or exceed the financial expectations of HG and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Creating the demand for products through ownership of inbound and outbound lead generation channels.
  • Measuring, reporting, and being accountable for product success or failure by appropriately defined KPIs.
  • Ensuring that all products have comprehensive pricing strategies and robust messaging frameworks and are driven to success by the HG go-to-market teams.
  • Overseeing release cycles and milestones of products spanning multiple feature and data insight areas.
  • Lead and scale the product management, product design and product marketing functions by creating a highly motivated team to ensure rapid development and market adoption of products.
  • Creating the product roadmap and communicating its deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the sales and customer success organization are fully equipped with the knowledge to sell and support all HG products, including data deliveries.
  • Collaborating with the CTO and VP Engineering to allocate engineering resources aligned with product initiatives.
  • Partnering with the CTO on quarterly planning sessions to ensure that the product roadmap is rational and deliverable.
  • Engaging with Data Solutions, Customer Success, and Sales organizations to bring transparency, communication, and an understanding of the product roadmap, including feature requests and prioritizations.
  • Constantly driving the search for innovation and invention in HG's products.
  • Participate in speaking engagements on general industry topics and promotion of company products.
  • Additional projects and deliverables as required.

What You'll Need:

  • 15+ years of technical, enterprise and SMB software product management and operational experience.
  • 5+ years of experience at the Vice President level at companies with >$50M ARR and experience in subscription data products and/or analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering and deploying SaaS and data solutions on a global scale while managing the end-to-end product life cycle.
  • Leadership experience with product management, product marketing, and design teams in an Agile environment.
  • Proven ability to work with customers and market analysts and represent their voices in product strategy and deliverables.
  • Ability to build consensus across an Executive Team on all aspects of the end-to-end product lifecycle with alignment to our company vision.
  • A proven mix of both technical and business acumen to effectively interact cross-functionally and to support the product roadmap and engagement with our customers.
  • Hands-on approach to mentoring teams and establishing a culture of immersive product management.
  • Experience working in mid-sized growth companies and the ability to balance strategy with changing business needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across audiences including being a product evangelist to our customers and a trusted leader in executive briefings and board meetings.
  • Strong working understanding of technology and data landscape and ability to identify partners to scale a product roadmap.
  • Experience making complex data actionable via a comprehensive product strategy.
  • Must be located in Santa Barbara or willing to work from our Santa Barbara HQ on a frequent basis and travel as needed.
