The Granola Bar is seeking a passionate and experienced General Manager to join our elevated day-to-night dining experience, which boasts a remarkable coffee, beer, and wine program. The Granola Bar has 7 locations currently and embarking on a national expansion.
The Granola Bar brings incredible hospitality and connection to breakfast, lunch, and dinner - all while creating a warm and engaging atmosphere. Once a customer takes their first bite - they are regulars to us and treated as such.
As General Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the overall operation of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, fostering a positive and safe working environment, and driving the growth of our establishment.
Responsibilities:
Guest Experience Management:
- Take charge of delivering outstanding guest experiences, ensuring that every interaction reflects the essence of our establishment.
Team Development and Leadership:
- Cultivate a positive and comfortable working environment for all employees, encouraging teamwork, and empowering staff members to excel.
- Enforce company policies, employee handbook, sequence of service, and standard operating procedures to maintain consistency and quality.
Financial and Operational Management:
- Collaborate with the Regional General Manager to establish cost-cutting measures and revenue-boosting strategies, aligning with the company's goals.
- Work closely with the kitchen staff to ensure proper plating and execution of dishes, maintaining high standards of presentation and taste.
- Monitor staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and implement necessary changes. Cross-train team members to enhance their skill sets and support their professional growth.
- Manage inventory, retail displays, and aesthetics, ensuring a well-stocked and visually appealing environment.
- Establish and enforce opening and closing procedures, implementing systems for daily cash reconciliation.
- Oversee scheduling and staffing needs, delegating responsibilities effectively to optimize service. Recruit and train new staff as required.
- Manage ordering and inventory, maintaining appropriate levels and minimizing waste.
- Proactively identify and address repair needs, such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry, coordinating necessary repairs.
- Conduct disciplinary actions when necessary, maintaining employee performance standards, and applying appropriate consequences.
- Provide weekly revenue and cost reports, along with a comprehensive P&L analysis, to the Regional General Manager and owners. Adhere to budgets and think critically about the restaurant's profitability.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a management role within the restaurant industry, preferably in an upscale daytime to nighttime setting.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Proven track record in financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue optimization.
- Sound knowledge of food and beverage operations, including plating, inventory management, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in using restaurant management software and POS systems.
- A passion for coffee, beer, wine, and a deep understanding of their respective programs.
