The General Maintenance Worker is a rotational position working 3-on and 1-off schedule, located at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), Sheyma, AK. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK is provided by government sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position, and the starting hourly pay rate is $28.94 per hour.
Key Role: The General Maintenance Worker performs General Maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and grounds maintenance. This position assists various journeyman level personnel and performs assigned work order and recurring maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supplies and holds materials and tools for workers.
- Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment.
- Patch minor holes and cracks, using plaster or compound, to walls and ceilings.
- Replace or repair ceiling tiles.
- Replaces or repairs sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
- Assists with corrosion control techniques for structures and equipment.
- Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, doors, windows, and associated hardware.
- Performs General Maintenance on equipment and machinery.
- Removes vegetation with walking or riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, and similar equipment.
- Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office equipment and household furniture, equipment, and appliances.
- Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
- Responds to callouts after normal working hours, as needed.
- Safe use of hand and power tools used in the course of routine or incidental work performed.
- Performs other tasks as directed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Airfield Safety including, but not limited to flight line driving, communications and radio protocols, FOD prevention, environmental protection and pollution prevention, and aircraft movement.
- Training IAW the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for pest control
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to understand and speak English.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
- Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Inquires background investigation.
