Job Responsibilities
About Coastal Regional Center
Coastal Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs located in Summerville, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Under general supervision of the Maintenance Director, this position is a multi-skilled position, performs building maintenance of a nonspecific trade skill. The work performed will be primarily preventive occasional routine and emergent request assigned.
1. Electrical work including, but not limited to: Preventive maintenance, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballast and wiring.
2. Plumbing including but not limited to: Preventative maintenance, toilet repair, disposal repair and waterlines.
3. HVAC work including but not limited to: Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, changing filters, replacing belts, changing fuses and capacitors, cleaning drain lines and using our energy management system.
4. Light carpentry work including but not limited to: Drywall, painting, and door repair.
5. Locksmith work including but not limited to: Making keys, working on all types of doors including door closers, checking lock and key functions, troubleshooting locks and keeping a log of keys made.
6. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Knowledge of techniques, methods and practices used in the designated trade. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to perform arithmetic. Ability to communicate effectively.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with DDSN consumers, a (2) step PPD testing or QuantiFERON TB Gold testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DDSN employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
