The Power BI Developer will work closely with business users, software developers, and business analysts to understand user requirements for reporting, KPI’s, alerts, dashboards, and models.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with other departments to design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports aligned with organizational requirements.
- Standardize, normalize, and improve existing operational and financial business data sources and data models.
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, and work with cross-functional colleagues to enhance data quality and integrity.
- Develop interactive and user-friendly dashboards that highlight critical financial metrics, budget variances, and performance indicators while ensuring data security protocols.
- Implement and uphold data governance policies to ensure the security and privacy of financial information.
- Collaborate with IT security teams to establish and enforce access controls and data protection measures.
- Address technical issues related to data sources, Power BI functionality, and report generation in collaboration with the cross-functional support team.
- Proactively identify and resolve any data integration or reporting challenges to maintain smooth operations.
- Stay updated on reporting trends, Power BI updates, and advancements in related technologies.
- Provide IT-focused training and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively navigate Power BI and perform their own data analysis.
- Contribute to the development of comprehensive IT documentation and training materials.
- Communicate well with other departments to provide status updates, understand challenges, and develop/gather superior requirements for work products.

Qualifications
- College degree in Computer Science/MIS or related field preferred; would also consider someone with an Accounting/Finance degree.
- Minimum 3 years experience with Power BI required.
- Minimum 3 years experience querying complex data structures with SQL Server or Azure SQL required.
- Minimum 1 year experience developing reports focused on accounting/budgeting/financial metrics.
- Agile development experience preferred.
- Visual Studio Team Services and Azure DevOps experience preferred.
- Developing ETL packages with Azure Data Factory/Data Flow/Synapse Analytics preferred.
- Demonstrated computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
