  • Apply standards and engineering fundamentals to design facilities, select materials and procedures. Design, size and specify items within design discipline.  Supervise and schedule subordinates work.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with some guidance. Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files. Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.  Own vehicle. Available for storm restoration activities.
  • Familiarity with the following programs/tools:
    • ARM
    • GIS
    • Computer Aided Design & Drafting (AutoCAD/MicroStation Cad)
  • Ability to interpret and apply local utility Gas Distribution engineering and construction standards to gas engineering designs.
  • Ability to determine specifications, materials, costs, and customer charges of various gas distribution projects.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of field construction techniques regarding mains, service connections,  regulator stations, meters, etc.…
  • Familiarity with and interpretation of CFR192 regulations regarding gas engineering and construction.
  • Ability to perform field location survey work and plot above, below, and proposed obstructions.
  • Practical knowledge of corrosion control design of natural gas distribution systems.
  • Ability to review plans of proposed construction by customers and outside agencies to determine the extent of interference with existing or proposed facilities.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.  
  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of design experience required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Complete other duties as required/assigned
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(80-85% typical)
  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Consult and coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Compare field data to base plan
  • Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
  • Prepare preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
  • Read and interpret technical documents needed for performance of job
  • Review and approve shop drawings
