Kindergarten Teacher

Spartanburg Day School is currently seeking a Kindergarten Faculty member for the 2024-2025 school year. Spartanburg Day School opened its doors in 1957 as the first independent school in Upstate South Carolina. More than 65 years later, our unique community provides approximately 545 students in grades 2K-12with an unparalleled educational experience. Here, students are known, feel safe to take risks, own their learning and achieve their personal best.

In the Lower School, we focus on children’s individual strengths, recognize and support their level of development and learning styles, and appreciate the uniqueness of a child’s growth and development. Ultimately, our goal in the Lower School is to develop the whole child and to instill a love of learning in all children.

In kindergarten, we value individual growth, inquiry, and collaboration. We offer a variety of experiences throughout the day to foster development in self-management, social, communication, and academic skills. Teachers develop the building blocks of reading, writing, math, and an understanding of the world around us.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in teaching from an accredited institution, a master’s degree in education and state licensure preferred. The ability to plan and deliver a variety of lessons that facilitate active learning, nurture and promote a positive and stimulating learning environment, engage in responsive classroom approach, use relevant and developmentally appropriate technology and communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress, student needs and curriculum.
