Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Director to join our team. As a Funeral Director, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to families during their time of loss and arranging funeral services with attention to detail and sensitivity. This role requires a strong knowledge of funeral directing practices, anatomy, physiology, and bereavement support.
We are a family-owned and operated funeral home in Reedsburg, WI with deep community roots dating back to 1929. We are located one hour north of Madison, two hours north of Illinois and minutes from Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo, WI.
We have an opening for a full-time Funeral Director, or soon-to-be licensed apprentice, who would like to make a long-term commitment to this growing and friendly community.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance on available options
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including transportation, embalming, cremation, and burial
- Prepare the deceased for viewing or burial, including embalming, dressing, and cosmetology
- Arrange for the purchase of caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise
- Assist families in completing necessary paperwork and obtaining required permits
- Coordinate with clergy or celebrants to plan and conduct funeral ceremonies
- Provide grief support and counseling to bereaved families
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and regulations pertaining to funerals
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the funeral home facilities
Requirements:
- Valid Funeral Director license or certification
- Knowledge of funeral directing practices and procedures
- Understanding of anatomy and physiology for proper handling of deceased individuals
- Ability to lift heavy objects (caskets) and perform physical tasks associated with the role
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach towards grieving families
- Sales skills to assist families in selecting appropriate funeral services and merchandise
- Ability to provide bereavement support and counseling to individuals in distress
