Job Description
Blackstone's Global Fund Finance is seeking a Financial Reporting Assistant Vice President focused on the Hedge Fund Solutions (Blackstone Alternative Asset Management, "BAAM") segment. This group leads the issuance of approximately 200 audited financial statements and collaborates with auditors throughout the year. The team manages the administrators' preparation of the financial statements in accordance with US GAAP (and IFRS/Lux GAAP) and review of key areas across regulatory filings. This team provides technical accounting expertise across all products within BAAM and coordinates with colleagues across the Global Fund Finance group. The team also works on special projects and plays a key role in the flow of information between other groups. Oversight of service providers is critical to the success of this team, and a component of this role will include the management of the 10+ onshore and offshore teams of consultants.
Candidates should have 10+ years of industry experience and exhibit strong technical, analytical and leadership skills as well as exceptional communication skills. Candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated, team-oriented individuals who can develop innovative ideas and solutions who thrive on challenge in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall financial reporting process
  • Perform reviews of financial statements, and review the work of others supporting the overall reporting process
  • Research technical developments related to accounting pronouncements
  • Provide accounting guidance for new products
  • Assist in the review of SEC reports (10-Q and 10-K) for Blackstone along with consolidation analyses and segment reporting
  • Build key relationships with BAAM teams, external auditors, and across Blackstone Finance teams
  • Work with auditors regarding approach, documentation, support and processes for quarterly reporting and the year-end audits
  • Motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
  • Facilitate and coordinate multiple deadlines, create cohesive teams, and respond quickly to management requests
  • Provide best practice guidance and measure key performance indicators for internal and external providers
  • Train, manage and mentor offshore resources, consultants and junior team members
  • Ad-hoc projects

Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in organizing, planning and executing projects from conceptualization through implementation across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines, with an emphasis on relationship management and communication at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative
  • Team player - highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • Strategic thinking and process re-engineering experience
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure and to adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Ability to summarize issues, develop recommendations and make decisions
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize diverse tasks
  • Excellent managerial and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to stay knowledgeable about, research and reach well-reasoned conclusions on technical accounting issues
  • Strong computer and spreadsheet skills
  • Fund of hedge fund, hedge fund, private equity industry experience
  • CPA or similar qualification
  • Public Accounting audit background
  • SOX and internal controls experience

Expected annual base salary range:
$150,000 - $225,000
Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.
Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
