Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA) invites applications for a full-time Biology Instructor who will primarily support the service load and general education courses for our students majoring in science, healthcare, and nursing. This is a teaching priority position. The selected candidate will be instrumental in shaping the academic experience for our students, ensuring they receive the highest quality education.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Teach general biology and human anatomy & physiology courses, with an emphasis on practical applications for healthcare and nursing majors.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, lead class discussions, and oversee laboratory sessions.
- Develop syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials tailored to course objectives.
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and other assessment methods.
- Stay current with advances in the field of Biology and incorporate them into course content.
- Mentor and advise students on academic and career-related matters.
- Regularly keep office hours and be receptive to students both in person and electronically
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the quality of instruction and curriculum.
- Participate in departmental and institutional committees and events as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum based on feedback and emerging industry needs.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Biology or a closely related field. (Ph.D. preferred.)
- Demonstrated teaching experience, preferably at the college level.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy & physiology.
- Ability to convey complex biological concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and utilize various teaching methodologies to cater to diverse learning needs.
The university is especially interested in teaching-focused faculty who are excellent in the classroom and online. LSUA is partnering with LSU to offer a series of courses online and will rely on the new hires to play a vital role in that partnership.
