The Role at a glance:
We are looking to add a passionate FT Registered Dietitian to our Cura team covering Emporia, KS and Topeka, KS onsite for a total of 32 hours per week, as well as covering Fort Scott, KS once per month for an additional 8 hours. As a Registered Dietitian, you will have the AMAZING opportunity to identify and assess the nutritional needs of assigned patients/residents, initiate interventions to achieve and/or maintain individuals' nutritional status, and enhance quality of life consistent with patient’s/resident’s goals. This position offers a $1000 Sign-On Bonus after completing 90 days of employment.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing nutritional expertise to the health care team and educating patients/residents, staff, or consultants.
- Following the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standards of practice and facility regulatory requirements.
- Interacting with other departments in setting up procedures and policies, and in problem solving as it relates to dining service and nutrition.
- Actively participating in the development, review, and revision of continuous quality improvement programs.
Day-to-Day:
- Provide Nutrition Assessments for admissions, quarterly assessments, annual assessments, tube feedings, weight changes +/-4% in 1 month, wounds, and for significant change assessments (such as a hospice admission or a significant improvement in ADLs)
- Nutrition education as needed and requested by residents
- Creation and quarterly updates on care plans for nurses/CNAs/CMAs to reference at meals and snacks to tailor to resident food preferences
- Completion of MDS (Minimum Data Sheets) for Section K and CAAs
- Use of the nutrition-focused physical exam to identify residents who meet criteria for malnutrition according to ASPEN Malnutrition Criteria
- Care conference meetings with families to update them on changes with the resident
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary team to provide resident-centered care during weekly clinical meetings
- QAPI Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Meetings each quarter
- Monthly Kitchen Inspections and Meal Service Audits
What we're looking for:
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field
- Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or meets the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics requirements for eligibility.
- Completes 75 hours of continuing education hours every five years, in accordance with the CDR, utilizing the professional portfolio development process.
- Licensed or certified, per state requirements.
- Knowledge of regulation standards specific to comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights.
- Ability to teach others, specifically pertaining to nutrition and dietetics.
Nice-to-haves: .
- Experience working in healthcare or long-term care.
Where you'll be working:
(32 hours) Emporia Presbyterian Manor, traveling to Topeka, Presbyterian Manor weekly.
(8 hours) Fort Scott Presbyterian Village once per month.
