Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our large animal patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting veterinarians during after hours emergency examinations and surgeries, performing laboratory tests, administering medications, and providing compassionate care to animals and their owners.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in examining and treating animals
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis
- Clean and maintain hospital areas, surgical equipment, and diagnostic equipment
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures
- Assist veterinarian with X-rays and ultrasounds
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
- Educate owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
Qualifications:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience, or licensed in good standing in another state with the intent of taking the Jurisprudence exam for licensure in Nevada
- Strong knowledge of veterinary critical care, animal physiology, and animal handling techniques
- Experience with equine and large animal care is a plus
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures and techniques
- Familiarity with X-ray equipment operation and maintenance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate owners on proper animal care
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
