SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for supporting Core (blood) laboratory operations, performing maintenance functions, and completing non-technical routine laboratory tests and procedures under direct supervision.
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday - 2pm-10:30pm, with rotating weekends
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to:
● Receives, labels, and processes specimens accurately and efficiently.
● Collaborates with other team members to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
● Assists with laboratory tests of varying complexity using standard procedures on human specimens for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease.
● Analyze the results of tests or experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical or electrical devices.
● Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and tests sterility of medical laboratory equipment.
● May run proficiency testing samples on equipment per SOPs.
● Follow laboratory procedures for sample management, test analyses, quality control, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results, compliance, and documentation and testing of proficiency testing samples.
● Assists with CLIA waived testing.
● Maintains laboratory records and inventory for supplies and reagents. Notifies appropriate staff when inventory is too low.
● With assistance, may troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate service, as necessary. Documents all equipment maintenance, both routine and troubleshooting.
● Maintains a clean and sanitary workstation and lab environment.
● Remain up-to-date and compliant on all required and assigned training related to laboratory safety and testing procedures and equipment maintenance.
● Special projects and other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities, but rather a general description of the work performed by this position.
Education and/or Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: biology, chemistry, toxicology, clinical chemistry, or a relatable life science.
● Optional educational acceptance would be based on the current State and Federal guidelines as verified by our QC department in regard to educational field of study as well as specific credit hours required.
● Previous experience in a laboratory setting preferred but not required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are: M-F with rotating weekends, 2pm-10:30pm
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
- Limited Travel - Travel is primarily local during the business day.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
