Position Description Summary/Purpose:
This position provides technical support for the operation of the Advanced Manufacturing Quality, Mechatronics and Welding Laboratories at the Business & Advanced Manufacturing Center, which is an integral part of the Goodwin University curriculum required for the Bachelor of Science and Associate of Science Manufacturing Degrees and the Certifications in CNC Machining, Metrology, Welding and Quality. The Advanced Manufacturing Lab Technician is required for the day-to-day set up, operation and maintenance of lab equipment, as well as the demonstration of course lab activities for the students. This position reports to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Labs. This role may require additional training on equipment relevant to other manufacturing programs including desktop CNC machines, logistics modeling and fabrication equipment. Techs are assigned to on-ground and off-site training venues and may be involved to support some aspects in an on-line environment. This position supports both academic and incumbent worker training.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

- Perform highly skilled laboratory functions in support of University and high school program coursework
- Operate, maintain, and make minor adjustments on the lab equipment
- Instruct students in the proper and safe use of lab equipment and tools
- Explain and demonstrate operation of the lab equipment to students and assist them as needed
- Maintain appropriate safety standards in the lab
- Assist other lab techs and faculty concerning lab exercises
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
- Operate coordinate measurement machines, metrology tools, microscopy, and other analytical and processing equipment
- Inspect and test mechanical and electronic equipment
Other Functions:
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
- Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
- Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill:
- Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various types of quality/inspection laboratory analytical equipment such as mechanical and electronic equipment, including computer hardware and software
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language
- Excellent technology and computer skills
- Knowledge of CMM language and PC-DMIS is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical and electrical components and tools
- Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook)
- Assist adults and high school-aged students
- Work under the supervision of the Director of the labs; follow-through on projects
- Willingness to learn new technologies in support of cross-functional teams
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as organizational and logistic skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Work collaboratively with faculty to support learning
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to Lead Quality Technician, faculty members, students and other stakeholders
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-years of experience in the operation, maintenance and support of laboratory electronic and mechanical analytical equipment;
Education, Training and Experience:
- Associate degree in related technical field preferred or sufficient demonstrated expertise in related lab equipment,
