Duties you will be responsible for:
- Greet patients in a pleasant and timely manner.
- Utilize practice management system to create provider records, scan medical records & documents including active medical insurance cards, drivers license or equivalent ID, & maintain insurance information.
- Verify registration forms are complete & obtain referring physician & primary physician information.
- Ensure patient has current referral on date of service. Obtain referral if necessary.
- Schedule new patients and verify insurance benefits and eligibility prior to office visits & procedures.
- Collect all applicable co-payment, coinsurance, deductible or outstanding balance from the patient & post all payments collected.
- Research & assist patients with questions regarding balances including collecting applicable payments.
- Perform various duties, including answering incoming calls, take complete messages; and send tasks, as necessary.
- Schedule, confirm, and cancel office appointments.
- Pick up voicemail messages
- Reschedule cancels and no-show appointments and maintain coverage to reflect correct information for the day.
- Support the care center in areas to include assisting with record requests, managing the fax inbox, and scanning records.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
- Collaborate with the team to provide excellent patient service and ensure a smooth workflow
- Maintains cleanliness and neatness of lobby/reception area to include stocking of business cards, water and coffee.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy protocol.
Note: Knowledge of medical terminology and therapy ( OT/PT/Speech) is preferred. Experience as a healthcare receptionist or in a therapy/medical/ dental office setting is preferred. Profeciency with Microsoft Office ( word/ excel) is preferred

H.S. Diploma or equivalent Required
