Sutton Transport is a privately held regional common carrier whose focus is interstate and intrastate transportation of general commodities. We specialize in loading, less-than-truckload, same day delivery and expedited services. Sutton Transport provides shipping tools, including document retrieval and order tracing services. We offer customized solutions on trucking-related problems.
Our staff and drivers are dedicated in providing top-notch service. We are recruiting for a full time Transportation Dispatcher in our Northlake, IL. This position is primarily responsible for planning and coordinating the freight routing process for that day’s deliveries.
Position responsibilities:
- Assigns pick-up and delivery orders of customer materials and ensures all deadlines and services are met.
- Receives (by telephone and e-mail) requests for quotations, orders, and lead times from customers. Makes quotations on standard items, enters orders and relays pertinent order information to customers. Coordinates with other departments to provide service to customers.
- Ensures maximize driver productivity, efficiencies, and customer service.
- May be responsible for taking calls after hours from drivers or customers.
- Resolves questions directly so that customer and driver receive prompt satisfaction.
- Maintains liaison with other departments for order completion.
- Communicate to the other department's customer concerns and develop a working relationship with the broker and customer service representatives
- Solve problems within the Department and offer suggestions to improve the operations of the company.
- Has knowledge of customers, customer’s products, company services, pricing, delivery times, various marketing promotional services, and similar data, as required.
- Be familiar with all the available resources within your direct department and utilize the knowledge base of your colleagues.
- Retrieve customer information, the status of delivery orders, and make changes on customer delivery orders.
- Prepares paperwork (manifests, bills of lading, copies of delivery forms, and returns) to be filed/processed accordingly and as per customer.
- Perform other related duties as assigned

- Minimum two years proven Dispatch experience in the transportation industry preferred
- Thorough geographical knowledge of the greater Chicago: North area

- High School Diploma or GED
Work Schedule:
- 10:30am - 7:30pm (approximately)
- Monday thru Friday
- Schedule may change due to business needs
