Freelance Event Technician

Shadowbox Design Management, Inc. is seeking to expand our roster of freelance stage and Event Technicians. We are seeking crew with experience in any or all the following areas: electrics, video, audio, and basic stagecraft.

Primary job responsibilities include the setup, operation, and strike lighting, audio, video, and event staging and scenery. Crew will be loading and unloading trucks with event production equipment at jobsites. Shop work is also available at our warehouse in Hicksville, NY.

Basic requirements:

• At least 2 years experience is required!
• Familiarity with current event production equipment.
• Knowledge of basic system fundamentals: how equipment connects and works within a system, such as power and signal flows.
• Experience with safely installing and striking equipment.
• Interest and willingness to work long calls, including nights, weekends, and overnight shifts.
• Ability to follow instructions and efficiently execute assigned tasks.
• Prompt communication with staff and management.
• Good attitude and ability to work with other staff and with clients to achieve a high-quality final product.
• Familiarity with multiple department: audio, lighting, video, staging, and scenery.

Additional skills:

• Experience installing AV systems including mounting speakers/displays, running wire, rack building, soldering, CAT5 terminations.

Our jobs include everything from fashion shows, marketing events, fundraisers, corporate and educational events, to permanent AV system installations. Crew is expected to be able to work in a basic capacity in all areas of the job. Locations are throughout New York City, Long Island and the tri-state area.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
