The New Hampshire Veterans Home has a part-time, 1st shift vacancy for a Food Service Worker I-II.
Proposed Schedule Includes:
5:30am - 2:00pm shifts
Varying weekends (additional $2.00/hour)

Summary:
FSW I
To assist Food Service Worker IIs in serving and preparing nutritionally balanced meals according to a prescribed menu plan and established safety standards.
FSW II
To assist in serving and preparing nutritionally balanced meals according to a prescribed menu plan and established safety standard.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS - Under a recent change to the rules, an applicant's relevant experience now counts towards formal education degrees referenced in the posting See Per 405.1.
18 Months of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months of additional relevant experience = Master's degree
Minimum Qualifications:
FSW I
Education: Completion of eight years of grammar school or its equivalent.
Experience: No experience required.
License/Certification: None required.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: No specialized knowledge, skills or abilities required, except clean personal health and sanitation habits. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
FSW II
Education: Completion of an eighth grade education or its equivalent. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: Six months experience as a waiter, waitress, dining room attendant or FOOD SERVICE WORKER.
License/Certification: None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess clean personal health and sanitation habits.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of the techniques required in serving large numbers of persons. Knowledge of dining room cleaning procedures. Ability to supervise other personnel. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
Responsibilities:
FSW I
- Assists in prepping and serving food according to menu and number of persons to be served.
- Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, refrigerators and areas of food preparation.
- Operates dish washing machine, coffee machine and toaster.
- Sets tables; makes beverages and strives to meet the resident’s needs.
- Prepares trays of food for distribution and assists in food distribution.
- Performs other custodial or housekeeping duties as assigned by a supervisor.
- Assists with special events and other duties assigned to meet the resident’s needs.
FSW II
- Participates in the preparation for, and the setup of, individual trays for food distribution.
- Sets-up for meal service, takes food orders, serves residents and cleans ladies lounge and Tarr dining rooms.
- Operates dishwashing machine, food disposal, toaster and heat on demand unit.
- Assists with the passing of trays, collecting of trays and cleaning the tables and chairs on the LEDU units, Welch units and areas served for guest meal service.
- Stocks all work areas and unit kitchenettes.
- Cleans all floor areas in dining rooms, kitchen and dishwashing areas.
- May be involved in cooking or otherwise preparing foods as directed by cook, chef, or dietary management team.
- Exercises responsibility for training new employees.
- Performs extra cleaning assignments as directed by shift leaders or dietary management team.
- May be involved in procedures for receiving, documenting, and tray preparation relating to both regular and special diets.
