Food Service Driver

Job Summary
Provides assistance in all Food Services functions as instructed and in accordance with the department established policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(In addition to the following, other duties may be assigned)
Ability to drive a cargo van.
Delivers food and non-food items to designated satellite centers daily in accordance with the established policies and procedures by transportation and nutrition departments.
Complies with the Food Code and/or nutrition services policies and procedures regarding employee health, personal cleanliness, and hygienic practices.
Stores and secures breakfast, snack items and supplies properly in the designated satellite center storage areas.
Ensures that food and supplies for the next day are readily available at the satellite centers or classrooms.
Performs dishwashing procedures, cleans and sanitizes food carriers, prepares, cunts and wraps all equipment foodservice items according to the Food Code and/or established nutrition department’s policies and procedures.
Cleans and sanitizes the center refrigerator(s) weekly. Checks refrigerator thermometer(s) at the designated satellite centers to verify proper food storage temperature, on a daily basis. Records temperature daily. Files form at end of every month as directed.
Disposes of food and waste in accordance with sanitation regulations.
Conducts pre-trip inspection of the food delivery vehicle daily. Completed the pre-trip inspections form and submits it according to established procedures.
Maintains and cleans food truck to comply with sanitation laws and agency procedures.
Follow department accident reporting procedures.
Maintain positive public relations skills.
Reports accidents/incidents according to Transportation department’s policies and procedures.
Participates in programs designed for in-service education, on in-service education, on-the-job training, workshops, etc., as directed.
Required Qualifications

Must maintain a good driving record with no more than 6 points.
Education/and or Experience
High School diploma or general education diploma (GED); one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Food Services practices and procedures. Knowledge of diverse ethnic groups.
Language Skills
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
Technology Skills
Basic technology skills that include: email management skills; computer network knowledge applicable to your department’s systems.
Reasoning Ability
The ability to use sound judgement to make well thought-out and informed decisions, the ability to apply knowledge and understanding, and use critical thinking skills to problem solve situations that involve several variables.
Physical Demand
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk, use hands and arms, taste and smell. The employee must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the
workday.
Must have good driving skills and the ability to drive a cargo van.
