The Food Safety Coordinator is part of the Food Safety & Quality Team and supports all Food Safety activities associated within the manufacturing/production facility. Performs routine analytical and physical tests to ensure resulting finished products and packaging meets PepsiCo standards. Work closely with production and perform a wide variety of tasks such as product testing, raw material inspection, finished good inspection, sanitation inspection, micro-sampling, and creating finished good or packaging holds. The individual in this role plays a very important part of our sanitation team, supporting the production, and quality teams with CIP/Sanitation Activities. The Food Safety Coordinator supports the Site during Internal & External Audits. Responsibilities includes and not limited to ensuring that the facility is “AUDIT READY ALWAYS. This role partners with production, maintenance, and warehouse teams across the plant by communicating quality procedures and developing long term sustainable practices to maintain superior quality process. This role may require off-shift work as needed.


Responsibilities
  • Ensure team compliance with all safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Maintain product quality and sanitation standards.
  • Support the Site’s Food Safety Plan and works closely with the Food Safety & QC Mgrs. in Food Safety, sanitation audit preparation and execution.
  • Maintains Good Manufacturing Practices with regards to micro/sanitation, and pest control chemicals
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of production equipment (processing and packaging equipment) and its' related impact on overall quality
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of process improvements and technical developments
  • Understands and trains others in product characteristics, attributes, and Quality Control testing procedures
  • Responds to and proactively reduces consumer complaints
  • Utilizes sound judgment in customer and consumer issues and possible crisis management
  • Monitor the production lines for quality issues.
  • Complete analytical testing on finished products using various scientific methods.
  • Ensure compliance to Food Safety standards by performing audits and inspections.
  • Collect and plate routine micro samples from ingredients, water, and equipment surfaces.
  • Perform review of production paperwork for compliance
  • Complete routine lab equipment calibration and maintenance
  • Manage non-conforming finished products/ incoming materials.
  • Create and train frontline and salaried staff on new SOPs.
  • Participate in Lean Six Sigma/TPM initiatives.
  • Provide support to new product innovation projects.
  • Sets frontline performance standards providing coaching and feedback to build capability.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $50,400 - $75,550 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
  • Food Manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Must have good documentation skills.
  • Understands written procedures.
  • Complete calculations and conversions
  • Work in a team-oriented atmosphere
  • Good communication with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Work, and PowerPoint
  • Safe driving record strongly preferred.    
  •  Experience with internal audits and 3rd party audits              
  •  Experience with GFSI scheme & PCQI or HACCP certification preferred.
