Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operations of microbiology and chemistry laboratories, including managing personnel and programs.
- Assist in enhancing and periodically reviewing the facility's Food Safety and quality programs.
- Serve as a substitute for both the Quality Assurance Lead Technician and the Quality Assurance Manager in their absence.
- Conduct training, supervision, and evaluation of Quality Assurance Laboratory technicians.
- Execute microbial and chemical analyses of food products to ensure safety and quality.
- Regularly update and maintain laboratory manuals and documentation.
- Ensure laboratory proficiency through testing and maintaining necessary certifications.
- Manage communication with the USDA FSIS, including the provision of required documentation.
- Coordinate the preparation and dispatch of samples to external laboratories and USDA AMS for testing.
- Maintain detailed records of samples sent for commodity and export testing.
- Address inquiries from employees about Food Safety and quality.
- Fulfill customer information requests promptly and accurately.
- Participate in the upkeep of the environmental monitoring program within the facility.
- Support management in analyzing test results, data trending, and during product/process investigations.
- Aid in the preparation and management of third-party audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Microbiology or a closely related field is highly preferred.
- Prior experience with SQF protocols and HACCP programs with at least 1 year of experience.
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Well-developed analytical skills, essential for problem-solving and decision-making.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
