The Food Safety Manager will be at the forefront of developing, implementing, and enforcing Food Safety standards, policies, and programs to ensure the health and safety of our food products. This role requires a proactive approach, collaboration with multiple departments, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of local and federal Food Safety regulations. The focus will be on our Quick Serve Restaurants and Convenience Stores.
Responsibilities: - Oversee the daily operations of Food Safety programs, ensuring consistent implementation across all locations.
- Collaborate with Operations, Category Management, Legal, and HR departments to develop and maintain comprehensive Food Safety documentation, including SOPs, SSOPs, and CCPs.
- Regularly review and update nutritional information for all company-owned digital platforms and physical materials, including websites, applications, and menu boards.
- Lead the initiative to explore and develop a third-party auditing program to ensure ongoing compliance and quality.
- Foster strong relationships with field operations to educate and inform on the critical aspects of Food Safety.
- Ensure all company Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans are current and reflect any changes in legislation or company policy.
- Stay abreast of local and federal Food Safety laws and guidelines and work in tandem with legal ensuring that all operations achieve 100% compliance.
- Collaborate with the category management team to verify that kitchen technology aligns with nutritional and ingredient statement guidelines.
- Conduct regular Food Safety audits and inspections, both internally and in coordination with external auditors.
- Develop easy to understand content for Food Safety training procedures.
- Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis for any HACCP Food Safety complaints or breaches, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure that all products meet our Food Safety requirements and standards.
- Implement and oversee recall procedures as necessary, ensuring timely communication with all stakeholders.
- Stay informed on the latest Food Safety trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve our Food Safety management system.
- Collect data and compile reports that reflect trends and that identify potential opportunities reporting.
- Proven experience as a Food Safety Manager or similar role in the food service with fast food outlets aka QSRs. Previous Convenience Store experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety regulations and standards (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and influence staff and management.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in Food Safety (e.g., HACCP, ServSafe, Certified Food Safety Manager) are highly advantageous.
