Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supervises the preparation of food and provides general cooking in a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility.
- Prepares food and provides general cooking. Prepares menus, consults with nutritionist and other professional contacts.
- Maintains records of amount of food served and number served.
- Prepares all forms for federal school lunch program. Maintains records for government commodities received and used; provides forms to the Department of Agriculture.
- Provides instructional kitchen skills to juveniles assigned to kitchen duties.
- Ensures proper supervision of juveniles.
- Prepares food requisitions and maintains food inventories. Maintains logs and inventory books on received/used foods and supplies. Maintains routine records for daily costs of meals.
- Maintains and reports attendance on juveniles for federal programs. Ensures new food items are received, checked, dated and stored properly.
