Reports to: Director of Revenue Operations
Compensation and Benefits: Salaried exempt position between $65,000 - $75,000 / year + bonus potential of approximately 5-10%. Medical benefits (medical, dental, vision, and more,) 120 vacation hours, 401(k) + matching after 6 months. Position is located in Seattle, WA, and is on-site.
Position Summary: The Food, Beverage, and Retail Manager oversees all short- and long-term strategy to ensure that that Argosy Cruises' food, beverage, retail, and experience upgrade offerings are worthy of a top tier attraction. They bring all on-premise revenue programs in line with Argosy's financial goals, strategic initiatives, values, and brand image. They focus on using key metrics to drive sales, meet annual food & beverage, retail, and experience upgrade goals, while identifying opportunities for growth. Simultaneously, they oversee cost control by setting inventory level strategies, monitoring costs, and designing efficient service systems.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create food & beverage menus, including public cruises, special events, private events, and adjustments for changes in season and product availability
- Set pricing for all products and monitor profit margins
- Conduct all food, beverage, and Retail purchasing and reconciliation
- Develop, manage, and evaluate the performance of experience upgrade programs
- Monitor revenue and inventory and report to company leadership
- Regularly analyze sales data to inform future menu decisions, evaluate service standards, contribute to company product development, and more.
- Develop annual retail merchandise strategy across all products
- Develop e-commerce strategy and manage execution
- Contribute to the development of annual department budget, including long-term planning of expenses for major improvement projects
- Serve as the point of contact for Accounting on food, beverage, or retail-related questions
- Ensure that all food & beverage programs adhere to food safety standards and liquor control board requirements
- Identify new opportunities for revenue growth and participate in product development cycles
- Build and manage vendor relationships and contracts, including distributors/wholesalers, local producers, and equipment technicians.
- Forecast market trends & conduct market research to determine best product mix
- Conduct annual competitor analysis
- Develop beverage and Retail promotional strategies
- Fulfill F&B Operations Coordinator duties as needed
Requirements
Job Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience in food and beverage or retail & merchandising or hospitality management or related field
- Current Washington State Food Handlers Card and MAST 12 Permit (or able to attain)
- Valid driver's license
- Analytical mindset
- Willing to learn booking systems and marketing platforms.
- Reporting - Comfortable building reports and analyzing data. Knowledge of pivot tables, formulas, charts, and shortcuts in Excel.
- Sales and Marketing - Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and systems.
- Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Retail Management, Marketing, Hospitality Management or related degree
- Experience launching and evaluating new programs or initiatives
- Experience working with vendors & hands-on buying experience
- Experience managing inventory
- Knowledge of alcoholic beverages including spirits, beer, and wine
- Experience with food or beverage service in nontraditional settings, such as on vessels, in which space and other constraints provide unique challenges
- Basic knowledge of beverage systems (keg systems, soda dispensing systems, dish sanitizers)
- Knowledge and understanding of consumer behavior as it relates to merchandising, pricing and buying
- Experience with POS systems like Revel and utilizing them for reporting and inventory management
- Experience with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify
- Current Certified Food Protection Manager certification
Physical Requirements And Work Environment:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to operate computers and look at screens for long periods of time
- Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to be on boats.
- Must be able to occasionally navigate piers, docks, vessel decks, ramps and unpaved paths
