Floor Host and Director

Puna Chocolate Co in downtown Hilo is looking for a professional, social, and outgoing "host" for to work in our professional sales, cafe, and cocktail team.

We grow our own cocoa on Big Island and offer our small batch chocolate products, local gifts, chocolate-centric espresso drinks, and craft cocktails. We are looking to hire someone who can greet new guests, orient them to the space, and increase sales.

The main duties of this position will be to greet guests and help them navigate our stores and be the liaison between service & retail staff while representing the customers requests and balancing this with supporting your coworkers in each of their roles. You will be greeting guests at the front door, on the retail sales floor, and in the cafe/bar area. When customers enter through the front door of the building you will greet them and explain the layout of the store and guide them to their first area of interest.

When in the retail area you will guide and advise customers on products and their selling points. You will check in with customers a minimum of two times while they are in the retail area. When assisting in the cafe lobby you will circulate between cleaning tables, checking in with customers, taking orders, and coordinating with the bar/cafe to deliver drinks whenever possible. In moments of downtime or when customers are not present the host will restock and organize the sales floor, Clean lobby area and bathrooms, trash, dishes, sweep, and stand by to open the door for customers. This is not an idle position.

Great workplace with lots of freedom but requires maturity, integrity, professionalism and the ability to talk to customers. This job is not for the shy or introverted.

Bonuses on top of base pay and tips based on sales.

Base pay is $17 - $19/hour based on experience with an average monthly sales bonus that adds $1-$6/hour worked, plus all tips are split each shift among team members on that shift. Employees typical earn $20-$30/hour.

Looking for part time employees who want 2-4 shifts per week that are 5-8 hours long and flexible to help take shifts for others when they need time off. Shifts are typically 7am-2pm or 2pm-9pm.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THURSDAY, FRIDAY, AND SATURDAY 2pm-11pm.
