Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of the Chief, Business Administration Section, the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, staffing, and direction of the Administrative Services Unit which is involved in a wide variety of analytical, technical, and support functions affecting Lottery operations statewide. The SSM I is responsible for policy and procedure development and implementation, and program direction. Incumbent coordinates with other Lottery operations and programs to ensure goals and objectives are effectively accomplished, and proper direction and guidelines are communicated. Incumbent is responsible for management and supervision of staff engaged in Lottery policy and procedure management, forms management, and Divisional administrative support.

- Exercises administrative judgement and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results from having an impact on people, cost, and/or quality of service.
- Experience in policy and procedure development.
- Ability to apply project management methodologies or successfully serve as a project team lead.
- Experience with the development and usage of performance measurements/metrics.
- Business Services administration experience.

Working Conditions
This position is headquartered at the Sacramento Headquarters and is eligible for either a remote-based or office-based telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as needed. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires employee residence in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.
