Position Summary:
The Fleet Manager position is responsible for the general overall management of a mixed fleet of company vehicles located at multiple business locations. This includes maintenance and monitoring of all vehicles for the purpose of the operational and mechanical safety of the vehicles; hiring, training & development of staff, as well as maintaining all necessary business operations and relationships with third-party vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing the fleet of company-owned vehicles, shops, and mechanics to provide a safe and reliable fleet of vehicles for business operations. All vehicles must be operated in compliance with all Company, Local, State, and Federal mandates and programs.
1. Create a continuous improvement of the working environment by improving processes and procedures with the objective of increasing uptime and lowering operational costs.
2. Oversee all mechanics to provide needed training and ensure all vehicles/equipment are ready to safely operate when needed.
3. This person must have experience in Leading the mechanics to perform the needed services and to work to provide needed training to keep and attract mechanics.
4. Utilize the Fleet Management Software Program for better expense and operational success.
5. Maintain accurate records for compliance with all DOT and State requirements.
6. Complete incident reports for safety and operational issues and investigate to determine root cause and correction.
7. Administer the safety programs that are related to the internal Fleet.
8. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for the vehicles and the entire maintenance budget.
9. Keep the COO and CEO apprised of all issues and concerns.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Prior vehicle fleet management experience in a business with a diverse fleet of vehicles and multiple business locations.
2. Extensive knowledge of the maintenance needs and cost, as well as MSRP and depreciation values, of the following vehicles: Ford pickup trucks starting with smaller models up to and including F550, cars, trailers, small transport buses, transit buses, large pontoon boats, larger commercial trucks, heavy equipment, large diesel generators. This list is not all encompassing; general knowledge of vehicles not listed will be required.
3. Demonstrated ability to make financial, budgetary and vehicle maintenance and purchase decisions directly related to the management of a diverse fleet of vehicles.
4. Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse group of guests, executives and staff and provide prompt, outstanding service.
5. Demonstrated ability to understand questions being asked and provide detailed information regarding facilities and operations.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner and handle escalated issues. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
7. Demonstrated ability to foster a productive environment, multi-task efficiently and maintain positive working relationships. Excellent organizational skills.
8. Knowledge of Grand Canyon West locations and operations, Hualapai River Running and Hualapai history and culture.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or another related field, required.
2. Minimum of five (5) years related experience managing a large fleet of vehicles in on-highway and off-road operation, required.
3. In lieu of Bachelors degree, ten (10) years related experience managing a large fleet of vehicles in on-highway and off-road operation, required.
4. Knowledge of DOT and State inspection programs.
5. Experience building, managing, and developing a team of technically skilled working professionals.
6. Strong technical experience with small and large vehicles and equipment.
7. Ability to work effectively and efficiently both as an individual and as part of a team.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
8. Experience working for a Tribal entity, preferred.
9. Valid Drivers License with a clean driving record.
10. Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
Working Conditions:
Work environment will be both an office setting, as well as outdoor environments in multiple business locations. This will involve exposure to extreme weather conditions including, but not limited to: heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. Travel (local and statewide) for meetings, assignments, and regular job tasks. Varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays will be necessary to meet business needs.
