Summary of Position Functions

The Fleet/Risk Manager is a dual position with a focus on fleet safety and will also support the environment, health, and safety team.

Essential Position Functions

  • Supports the planning and implementation of fleet policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Plans and implements fleet training and practices for those utilizing company vehicles or rental vehicles for company business.
  • Educates the team on fleet procedures and ensures they are being followed.
  • Analyzes accident reports and evaluates incident case studies based on available facts.
  • Manages commercial auto claims to ensure proper protocols are followed.
  • Works closely with the external insurance company contacts in reporting and managing vehicle and safety-related claims.
  • Develops effective training methods such as digital learning, PowerPoints, classroom, skill qualifications, and in-person training.
  • Works with applications such as SiteDocs, SafetySkills, and LYTX.

Education and Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university or three+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working as a fleet manager professional is preferred.
  • Experience with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Knowledge (Intermediate to advanced) of various operating systems, software products (e.g., MS Office, etc.), is required.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively before customers and staff.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time / workload.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business, professional, and technical documents.
  • Ability to write presentations, articles, routine reports, proposals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and staff.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priority with end users.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or working on completing.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Travel Required

  • Travel will be 1-10%.
