Description
T.G. Lee Dairy has an immediate job opening for a skilled Transport Refrigeration (reefer) mechanic. On occasion, the candidate may be required to perform truck and or trailer repairs ensuring that equipment is available and in optimal operating condition.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain, repair, inspect, and/or replace brakes, steering mechanisms, springs, air bags, lights, air conditioners,
water, fuel, oil, air f ilters, coolant and chemicals, transmissions, tire air pressure, tire tread, tires, chassis, drive
lines, u-joints, air tanks, batteries, air lines, power cords, wipers, mirrors, drive train components, or other
equipment as necessary - Perform facility maintenance duties
- Use shop management system and other electronic systems available
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
- Interact with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Work in accordance with all federal, state, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT)
- Complete work orders and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining high quality standards in
accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP’s) - Respond to accidents or inoperable vehicles to transport equipment back to shop for repair, if appropriate
- Keep management informed of safety, operator, and equipment observations and concerns
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, utilizing continuous improvement mindset
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area which may include wearing of all required personal protective
equipment in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc. - The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee,

- $30.00/hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
- Minimum one year experience with refrigeration equipment
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment.
- Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Refrigeration license preferred
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and crawl and possibly sit for virtually the entire shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist others
- Must be able to work in a dusty, greasy environment, with moderate noise and cold and hot temperature ranges
- Must be able to follow all required work safe practices
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Class A/B license preferred
- Must be computer literate and have experience with engine, ABS, transmission, etc., as well as diagnostic equipment and software
- Must have experience with manipulation of tools, equipment and truck component
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
