Department Profile
The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Corporate Credit, Muni Products, and Securitized Product Group. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Municipality Division is a market leader across a broad range of markets, with expertise in areas including Sales & Trading, Muni Capital Solutions, Muni Capital Markets, and Public Finance.

Primary Responsibilities
- Build, develop and manage an eTrading strat team to grow muni electronic trading franchise
- Research, develop, and deploy eTrading algorithms with direct impact on desk PnL
- Collaborate with the muni trading desk and other eTrading businesses in the firm on new models of asset pricing, market activity, and alpha signals
- Ownership and maintenance of research projects including performance monitoring, recalibration depending on market conditions, etc
- Strong collaboration with IT to co-ordinate delivery and contribute to testing and trading framework to achieve operational efficiencies
Qualifications:
Desired Skills
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Physics
- Experience in an electronic trading or research role
- Strong technical skills (Q/kdb, Python) for statistical and econometric analysis
- Experience in time series analysis and large datasets
- Strong communication (role requires effective collaboration and consensus-building across a range of functional groups) both verbally and in writing
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to work thoughtfully and independently and manage multiple projects
Beneficial Skills
- Experience in a muni electronic trading or research role
- Knowledge of Muni or Corp and Market Microstructure
- Java Object-orientated development experience in a production financial context
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $200,000 and $250,000 per year for Vice President, and between $250,000 and $300,000 per year for Executive Director, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
