Job description

The Fish and Wildlife Technician (PI) conducts all aspects of fish culture of Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout and Kokanee Salmon, which includes trapping, sorting, spawning, rearing, and transporting eggs and fish both at the American River Trout Hatchery and remote egg collection stations. The incumbent will also perform grounds, building, and equipment maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will be required to possess a valid California Driver’s License (Class C) and must maintain a clean driving record. Incumbent must be willing to obtain a (Class A) California Drivers License. The position involves using a variety of specialized tools, meters, pumps, and vehicles to perform the duties.

Working Conditions

The incumbent will be required to to work in remote areas periodically, as well as some holidays, and special events. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions; work in and around water and on uneven ground. Work schedule is 6am-2:30pm. Days off will be other than Saturday and Sunday;weekend and holiday work is required.

State housing is not available.

Special Requirements

The incumbent shall possess a valid California Driver's License (Class C) and be willing to obtain a (Class A) California Drivers License, must maintain a clean driving record and be able to lift 40 lbs.The position requires limited travel to project and facility locations throughout the Region.
