The Position

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (Con Fire) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Fire District Fiscal Specialist vacancy.
Con Fire is a recognized fire service leader, providing fire, rescue, and emergency medical services (EMS) to more than a million people across its 304 square-mile area. Con Fire, with 33 active fire stations and more than 500 employees, is dedicated to preserving life, property, and the environment.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.
Minimum Qualifications
License Required: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment avalid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years full-time or its equivalent technical or clerical experience in the preparation and maintenance of fiscal or budgetary records and reports.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two (2) years. A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field may be substituted for two of the three years of required experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Governmental accounting experience.

Selection Process
  1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
  2. Multiple Choice Assessment: Candidates who possess the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in a multiple choice assessment. The multiple choice assessment will be conducted to measures candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. These may include but are not limited to: Professional & Technical Expertise, Analyzing and Interpreting Data, Mathematical Facility, Reading Comprehension, and Attention to Detail. (Weighted 100%)

The Online Multiple-Choice Assessment is used for other jobs. Therefore, if you have taken the test within the last year, your current score will be applied to this recruitment process. Candidates are not permitted to retake the same assessment within a one year period.

Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to participate in the selection process.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
