Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Facilities Fire and Life Safety Systems Engineer to join the Facilities team at our location in Marcy, NY. This person must have working knowledge of fire detection and suppression systems; and systems supporting the detection of high purity gases, chemicals, and other hazardous process materials in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. The Facilities Fire and Life Safety Systems Engineer will work to achieve code compliance, deploy industry best practices, and help keep colleagues safe via well maintained and configured systems.
The Day-to-Day
- Evaluates and enhances fire, Life Safety, liquid leak, and toxic gas PLC monitoring systems (TGMS) to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Provides RFI responses, reviews vendor equipment and contractor design submittals and performs field design verification for installed equipment.
- Serves as the technical expert and works within a commissioning team to perform site acceptance testing, and start-up and commissioning.
- Develops and maintains site Life Safety system maintenance records, inspection reports and procedures. Provides direction to maintenance staff during preventative maintenance activities.
- Coordinates with vendors as needed to perform preventive maintenance on Life Safety Systems equipment.
- Assists local officials with routine testing of Fire and Life Safety Systems.
- Serves as single point of contact for interface with AJH and site insurance provider.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or technical discipline.
- Experience maintaining Life Safety Systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Midas and DOD gas detectors.
- Industry certifications from NFPA, NICET, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in facility/plant engineering and fire Life Safety equipment (FAS, FPS, HPM, TGM, Leak Detection).
- Knowledge & application of Codes and Standards, as they pertain to Life Safety NFPA 1 Fire Code: NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements / NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code: NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code, ICC, IBC and IFC.
