We are currently looking for a Fire Alarm and Security Technician who will be responsible for troubleshooting low voltage Fire Alarm and Security Systems and resolving any problems. This position requires a thorough understanding of Fire Alarm and security products, supporting software, and electrical systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Installation, service, and inspections of Fire Alarm and associated systems
- Completion of all necessary paperwork associated with service and inspections
- Communicate with customer before and after any call to explain work performed
- Ensure timely job completion
- Daily communications with Project Manager and/or Schedule Coordinator on inspection or project delays, requirements and general status of job
- Take turns in on-call rotation
- May mentor Fire and/or Security technicians on tools and technology
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with NFPA 72, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and local building codes
- Minimum of 3 years of field experience in inspection, repair, and installation of Fire Alarm and security system systems
- Extensive knowledge of low voltage systems
- Experience working with Fire-Lite and Notifier brands of equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Proficient in the use of computers and smart phones, specifically Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Apple iOS, and Google Android
- High level of troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills required
- Organized, motivated, and able to work with minimum supervision
- Valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Must a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Physical Requirements
- A Fire Alarm Tech is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
- Ability to complete ladder work, operate scissor and boom lifts, move boxes, and lift, up to 50lbs
- Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required
- Moderate noise level in the work environment
- Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Compensation: $25 - $35/hour depending on experience
