Job Description
We are seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to join our Federal Systems team at our Schenectady, NY.

We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.
Shift: Primary hours are 7:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday.
Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment
Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation per calendar year
Pay: $17-23/hr
As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will:
- Under direct supervision, completes assigned programming, commissioning, basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of Fire Alarm systems per contract obligations
- Assists experienced personnel with solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems. Requires understanding of core and third party fire products, software and systems electrical technology.
- Assists in performing required commissioning documentation. Provide accurate information for as-builts documentation.
- Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs
- Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
- Maintains appropriate local and National Fire Industry Certifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals
- Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Continuous proactive customer interactions including an in-depth understanding of customer(s) needs wants and systems currently in place.
- Completes paperwork and on site documentation as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Two or more years experience with commercial Fire Alarm or fire suppression systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
- Basic computer skills
- The ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearance to support this site required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET certification
- Electronics certification from an accredited technical school or military electronics training preferred.
