JOB TITLE: Fingerprint Technician
STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under supervision of the Fingerprint Technician Supervisor and Office Coordinator (FTS & OC), the Fingerprint Technician (FT) is responsible for capturing and processing of electronic fingerprint images (Live Scan) as well as ink fingerprints and performing data-entry of the pertinent data and submitting it to the California Department of Justice (CADOJ) and/or Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). This position will have extensive interaction with the public and client agencies either in-person, and/or through correspondence via phone and/or email. Duties may also include capturing and processing Passport Type photo images, and performing general clerical functions, including computer input and scanner use, and maintaining and sanitizing office environment.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports directly to the FTS & OC.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift material weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to stand at a computer terminal for long periods of time and perform repetitive work.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Standard open office environment including public interaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
80% Capture, verify, and process electronic fingerprint images as well as ink fingerprints and submit them to the CADOJ and the FBI while in the office and in the field as needed. Contact and interact with the public and client agencies via in-person, phone, or email. Analyze and evaluate Live Scan transactions for clarity, legibility, and proper placement. Perform data-entry of pertinent data and submit to controlling agencies. Analyze and troubleshoot issues related to fingerprint transmissions, including contacting consultant vendors or client agencies and individuals to identify and rectify issues related to the processing of fingerprints.
15% Capture and process Passport Type photo images. Contact client agencies, the public, or consultants to identify and/or verify information via telephone or email.
5% Perform sanitation duties of office, including workstations, equipment, break and lobby areas and restroom facilities, and perform other office duties as needed. Collect and prepare mail for processing, open and secure building as shift appropriate and other duties as required.
Requirements
- Must obtain a Fingerprint Rolling Certificate from California Department of Justice. The $74 application cost will reimbursed to the employee upon successful completion of 90-day introductory period.
- Must have part/full time availability Monday through Friday and every other Saturday.
- Capital Live Scan has to comply with Drug-free work environment rules and regulations.
- Must be 18 years of age
- Have a High School diploma or GED
- US citizen or Legal resident.
- Must reside within 25 miles from Sacramento HQ office.
- Dependable transportation
