Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Financial Accounting and Reporting team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. While this position is based at Idaho Power’s downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote.
What does a Financial Reporting Accountant do for us?
Participates in the preparation of Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.), including preparing and reviewing financial statements, footnotes, and Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A). Serves as contact for internal and external auditors, government regulators, and legal counsel. Analyzes financial information of IDACORP and its subsidiaries. Assists with conducting studies and makes recommendations based on sound accounting practices. Analyzes, interprets, and implements new accounting pronouncements to meet the company's accounting and reporting requirements; assists others in the application of new standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Knowledge of:
Generally accepted accounting principles and accounting and auditing theory
The impact of SEC and FERC regulations on Financial Reporting, including XBRL
Financial theory and analysis, such as financial statement variance analysis, ratio analysis, etc.
Skills in:
Communication, both verbal and written
Computing applications including MS Office and query tools for use in developing analyses, models, and presentations
Analyzing and interpreting data
Ability to:
Analyze, interpret, and apply GAAP, SEC, and FERC reporting requirements
Prepare journal entries, financial statements, and analyses accurately and in accordance with closing schedule deadlines
Answer accounting questions concerning entries made to various ledgers
Prepare reports using a variety of report writing tools
Operate and utilize standard office equipment
Evaluate and improve work processes
Work within a collaborative team setting
Safeguard the use of sensitive and confidential information
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Experience:
- 4 years of experience in a corporate reporting and accounting environment or in public accounting environment or in public accounting
Licenses & Certifications:
- Preferred : CPA
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is a sedentary job requiring working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. Ergonomic accommodations including sit to stand desks are available and installed as needed.
