The Financial Operations Coordinator plays a key role in the administration of the day-to-day operations of the College of Arts & Sciences budget office, especially in the areas of human resources, compensation, payroll and finance. The Financial Operations Coordinator performs advanced and confidential duties requiring broad and comprehensive experience, skill and knowledge of the institution's policies and procedures.
In consultation with the Director of Budget and Operations, this position performs professional duties related to compensation, finance, and hiring to facilitate the day to day operations of the College of Arts & Sciences. Position assists in planning and development of budgets; interprets, monitors, and analyzes information regarding operating policies and procedures; coordinates staff and faculty compensation matters; and resolves problems that would impact the fiscal position of the college and its faculty and staff members. Position maintains and protects confidentiality of personnel and compensation records. Resolves administrative problems by analyzing information; identifying and communicating solutions, by answering questions, and fulfilling requests. Position ensures success of Financial Operations by researching and understanding administrative policies and procedures, and assisting in the training and guiding nearly 40 staff members of the College of Arts & Sciences on adherence to such policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in business and human resources-related field (accounting, management, finance, operations, management information systems, human resources, etc.) OR at least three years of working experience as an Human Resources Clerk or Budget Clerk
Mathematical and analytical aptitude
Experience with hiring and compensation
Ability to protect and maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Experience analyzing financial data for trends, preparing reports, and making recommendations.
Ability to plan and organize work in observance of deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (especially Word and Excel, e.g. advanced knowledge of pivot tables, formulas and charting.)
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
Excellent written communication skills
Ability to:
•work quickly and accurately with a high degree of detail develop a deep knowledge of key UD's policies and procedures regarding compensation, hiring, travel, budgeting, and procurement.
•establish priorities for own workload based upon such factors as need for immediate action, work objectives, and work schedule.
•interpret policies and procedures and make decisions accordingly exercise independent initiative and judgment.
•manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
•use computer systems such as Banner self-serve and Cognos for financial reporting.
•understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
•work cooperatively and collaboratively with others work under pressure to meet tight time schedules and deadlines, and handle significant problems and tasks that arise simultaneously or unexpectedly.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business and human resources-related field (accounting, management, finance, operations, management information systems, human resources, etc.) or equivalent experience
Demonstrated ability to engage effectively, respectfully, and professionally with multiple constituents at all levels in an organization, such as faculty members, staff, administration, students, parents, advisory council members, community partners, and university guest
Effective interpersonal skills.
Successful experience:
•defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions on matters involving university faculty and staff compensation, travel reimbursements, and other financial related situations
•working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
•collaborating effectively and cooperatively with others in a professional environment.
•proposing and implementing new processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
•Successful experience working in an academic setting
Excellent oral communication skills
Deep understanding of University of Dayton academic structures, procedures, and policies regarding compensation, budget, and operations.
Proficiency in Banner and Cognos IT systems.
Knowledge of and sensitivity to Catholic and Marianist values of the University of Dayton. Knowledge of UD's human resources policies and procedures
