Position Overview
As Financial Analyst II, you will be part of the Commercial Sales Finance Team that partner with the Sales and Brand teams to grow our business. This position facilitates and leads financial related and business review meetings with various levels of leadership, prepares data driven analysis and presentations that summarizes insights and recommendations, and partners with cross functional teams on strategic business opportunities. Financial analysis responsibilities include financial reporting, budget, strategic plan and forecast preparation, and operations and ad hoc analysis.
Financial Analyst II's are generally responsible for a single large strategic business unit or a combination of small strategic business units which are closely related. In some instances, the analyst may be required to perform work associated with the total company. The duties and responsibilities below are general in nature and can typically be applied to each business unit. However, these individuals are also responsible for understanding highly specialized areas of the business such as green coffee manufacturing, trade spending, marketing effectiveness measurements, etc. Those responsibilities are further defined in annual performance goals for the individual.)
Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities
  • Perform financial reporting, ad-hoc project analyses, and financial modeling using a broad range of tools including Excel and Power BI
  • Lead review of financials for business unit for month end close, downhill forecast, Annual Operating Plan, long range Strategic Plan and Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Complete time sensitive month-end closing activities, including calculating and presenting to accounting proposed adjustments (ex. Accruals) and variance analysis
  • Creating and maintaining insightful reports when key performance drivers and financial results.
  • Applies new information gleaned from business review meetings to current trends in order to develop actions plans to achieve Plan. Provides reporting to Management including comparisons to current year plan and historical performance.
  • Prepares forecast of business results for the division.
  • Assists business unit management in evaluating business opportunities and risks inherent in those opportunities including but not limited to new product development, trade and advertising spending, expansion into new markets, supply chain opportunities-depending on the need of the business unit.
  • Analyze internal and competitor data and trends and complete complex business modeling and analysis to identify insights and provide recommendations to improve profitability
  • Facilitate and lead financial related and business review meetings with various levels of leadership to ensure effective finance and cost management
  • Influence business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data driven analysis and modeling, and presentation of options and alternatives
  • Leads the development of the Annual Operating and Five-Year Strategic Plan for responsible business unit including building and reviewing forecast models and assisting with the development of presentations for Management. Applies strategic growth goals to historical trends and layers on new business risks and opportunities to complete five-year projections. Assists in preparation of strategic plan document.
  • Acts as liaison between supported Business Unit and Finance/Accounting including keeping Accounting updated as to projects, changes that may impact Accounting or financial support of a division, educating business managers on financials and budgeting and how to consider paybacks on investments (people, resources, advertising and/or assets).
  • This position is expected to handle many simultaneous projects.
  • May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university. Concentration in Finance strongly preferred
  • 2 years' experience in a Strategic analysis or similar analytical role
    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources
  • Advance experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Power BI, and data warehouse / database applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend solutions
