Under the leadership of the AVP of Rutgers Financial Management, the office and staff are responsible to account for and manage all funds flow between RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers. In accordance with the Master Affiliation Agreement, the office provides financial leadership and management while establishing the policies and procedures governing the oversight and monitoring of the health system s financial investment in the academic, research and clinical enterprise. The office is responsible for overseeing the related budget process, including the collection and validation of inputs, monitoring and explaining variances throughout the year, and making recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
The office is instrumental in designing, implementing and monitoring reimbursement methodologies and procedures to support the academic health system's vision. The areas of focus cross all three pillars of the affiliation: education; research; and clinical. Close collaboration and a positive working relation with the fiscal leadership at Rutgers is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- To support the academic health system affiliation between Rutgers and RWJBarnabas Health.
- Assist the review and processing of Rutgers-RWJMS's monthly clinical invoicing.
- This position will assist in updating the position control roster for approved changes.
- Among other things, the position will need to assist in the preparation of individual review workpapers.
- These workpapers are used to both update the position control roster and to confirm that the approved change agrees with the payroll details.
- Assists office leadership to administer the financial management system that provides accounting, monitoring and analytical capabilities that support the academic health system affiliation between RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers.
- Assist in the preparation of executive level performance reports and dashboards for monthly, quarterly and annual updates to track, analyze and measure program results.
- Analyzes data for opportunities and elevates findings to advance to management through written narratives and data analytics.
- Generates standard and custom reports for financial and program information.
- Assists with the preparation of fiscal and data analytics to support the expanding clinical integration among Rutgers and RWJBarnabas Health.
- Responsible for the collection, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of quantitative data; provides insight, recommendations, and advice on data needs.
- Performs other financial analysis as requested to support leadership and the academic health system partnership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor's degree with a focus on either accounting, finance or other related business degree.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a related position.
- Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills - must be comfortable navigating complex formulas, pivot tables, etc.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with analyzing payroll expense and changes thereto.
- Demonstrates an ability to prepare work products in an efficient, organized and clear manner.
- Ability to work independently.
