Financial Analyst (Utilities)
Position Summary:
The Sr. Financial Analyst is primarily responsible for performing plant accounting functions. This position performs Month-End Closing activities, books Journal Vouchers, performs Account Reconciliations and own specialized accounting processes unique to the Hopewell Site. In addition, this position partners with Area and Functional Leads in the development of annual budgets, tracking expenses v the budgets, and driving productivity initiatives specific to their assigned cost centers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partnering with the AdvanSix Utilities Leader and NUS (Nat Gas Consultant) in Planning and Budgeting for price side of Hopewell Utilities expenses. This includes understanding contracts and agreements, anticipating rate hikes, rebates, etc.
- Partner with Site Utilities Lead to drive productivity initiatives on the consumption side.
- Month end variance analysis for Utilities, understand and report on price and consumption drivers.
- Execute accounting requirements for specialized areas such as Palladium recovery, Catalyst amortization, Residue disposal, Water Treatment, HIMCO Billings, Chemtrade spent Cobalt credits. Focus on simplification and efficiencies while maintain accounting integrity.
- Partner with specific Operational and Functional Leads to assist in development of budgets and monthly tracking. Drive associated productivity initiatives.
- Perform month end duties that include booking JVs as needed and completing assigned account reconciliations.
- Assist in the coordination of Quarterly Balance Sheet Reviews.
- Support the AOP (budget), strategic plan, and forecasting processes working with Budget and Controls Lead.
- Assist in coordination of annual physical inventory and cycle count audits.
- Assist in coordination of annual fixed asset inventory audit.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 4+ years of experience in accounting/finance position
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience working within a manufacturing facility preferred
- Strong SAP experience
- Strong Excel skills and strong knowledge of other Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to understand plant and business activities with a view broader than just the finance function
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and communicate financial data to non-financial personnel
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and results oriented, proactive, and ale to prioritize to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and capable of a high level of accuracy
- Must be process oriented, proactively question current practices, and drive improvements
