Job description

The Highlights:

Reporting to the Associate Director for Scholarships, the Scholarship Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the awarding and reconciliation of endowed, institutional and external scholarships, as well as working with relevant external and internal stakeholders. S/he will also analyze and resolve incoming student Financial Aid appeals. The Scholarship Coordinator also works with University Development Office professionals and College Deans and their administrative teams to monitor and report the expenditure of institutional scholarship funds.

What You'll Do:

1) Facilitates the awarding and reconciliation of institutional, endowed, and external scholarship funds by applying extensive institutional knowledge and directly advising the relevant stakeholders, such as current and prospective students, or, interfacing with scholarship donors, agencies, or foundations, or, coordinating with internal university Financial Aid office professionals. Analyzes student Financial Aid appeals, considering changing and/or extenuating circumstances of the students, and resolve appeals that balance individual-level student outcomes with group and organizational-level university institutional Financial Aid budgets. Applies knowledge of complex federal Department of Education Financial Aid eligibility rules to determine any necessary follow-up to resolve conflicting data, to recalculate Financial Aid packages, and complete processing and awarding of students' Financial Aid disbursement packages.

2) Works with Development Office professionals, College Deans, and their administrative teams to award appropriately, monitor, and report the expenditure of institutional scholarship funds.

3) Consult and coordinate effective delivery of FA funds to students and their families with Financial Aid staff and as needed, consult directly with students and their families.

4) Analyzes the utilization and effectiveness of institutional scholarship programs, new and existing and make process improvement recommendations.

5) Contributes to the professional development of Office of Financial Aid staff regarding scholarship awarding, via informal knowledge transfer and formal training.
Participation in administration of individual scholarship programs: aggregate dollars of programs involved exceed $40 million dollars.
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree required.
Familiarity with higher education processes required.
Preferred: 2 years of professional experience with scholarships and/or student Financial Aid programs.
