Job Summary/Basic Function
Counsels student on Financial Aid processes and resources, evaluates eligibility, processes Financial Aid applications, and present workshops. Must comply with complex federal, state & institutional regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in related fields. The level of education should provide the applicant with the skills and practical knowledge to successfully complete the job requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field, as well as, proven public speaking, Financial Aid, customer service and Banner experience; and Microsoft Excel and Access proficiency.

Job Duties
Description of Job Duties
Attends Financial Aid conferences, seminars and training sessions in order to remain current on federal, state and other Financial Aid regulations. Presents Financial Aid information (awareness, literacy, debt management) to students and parents at on-campus activities, high school Financial Aid nights and other events as scheduled. Extra hours, including some Saturdays, are required during peak processing periods, as established by the Director.
Counsels currently enrolled and prospective students regarding the availability of Financial Aid from federal, state, institutional and private sources. Advises students on application procedures, eligibility requirements, etc. Answers inquiries regarding Financial Aid programs and policies. Informs students of important dates of Financial Aid process, deadlines, etc. Works with other Financial Aid staff in daily operations of Financial Aid programs including awarding, disbursement and reconciliation of Financial Aid programs. Monitors satisfactory academic progress policies. Assists in implementation of pre-semester packaging, awarding, and Financial Aid notifications and disbursements.
Private Loan Program ? Manages approximately 200+ applications for $2+ million, which includes, but is not limited to: determining students' eligibility; ensuring students' awards do not exceed total annual budget; verifying total awards dollar amounts; certifying private loans electronically using an automated loan system. This position must perform all reconciliation functions in order to balance with Business Office.
This position calculates Return of Funds for students who have withdrawn from Shepherd University to determine how much aid the student is entitled to keep and how much aid must be returned. In addition, serves at the point of contact for all study abroad students.
