Job Title: Fill-in (floating) Custodian
Starting wage: $15.31 depending on experience
Health Insurance: Employees have several paid options to choose from and pay-for family coverage is available
Sick Leave/Vacation: 14 personal leave days each year/1 week vacation after the first year of employment-10 days after two years of employment with 1 additional day per year through 15 years of employment.
Several Paid Holidays Each Year:
Hours: During the school year can be days (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 a. m.) or evenings (3:00 p. m. to 11:30 p. m.) depending on which shift requires a fill-in. Occasional weekends for special events. Director of Maintenance and Operations will assign schedule as necessary. During the summer this position works days 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., along with the rest of the evening crew.
Job Description: Regular care of tile, terrazzo, concrete, wood and carpeted floors-with periodic stripping, burnishing and polishing. Assures weekly that an adequate inventory of cleaning products is on hand in assigned area. Cleans, dusts, vacuums, washes ceilings-walls-furniture-restrooms-gymnasiums-cafeterias-windows-doors-stairways and other associated areas. Restocks paper dispensers as needed. Collects garbage daily from classrooms, restrooms, gymnasiums and associated areas. Operates a variety of motorized cleaning equipment. Assists with cleanup at frequent athletic events. Performs snow and ice removal duties when needed. Performs any and all additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Operations. Works closely with the given facility administrator or principal.
Desired attributes: Self-motivated; works with minimum supervision. Works well with a variety of personalities. Versatile; able to take on and complete a wide range of job assignments. Conscientious, goes the extra mile to see that the job is done right. Able to successfully manage time when faced with competing priorities. Familiarity with institutional type cleaning. Willingness to learn.
Required Skills: Ability to safely lift loads up to 50 pounds. Familiarity with the use of a variety cleaning products. Thoroughness. Ability to run vacuums, floor scrubbers and other motorized cleaning equipment. Ability to integrate seamlessly with the given building's cleaning team.
Other Requirements: The successful candidate must be a high school graduate or possess a GED, pass a background check, be board approved and successfully complete 90 days probation.
