Job Summary:
The Engine Design and System Integration (EDSI) Commercial Engines organization is focused on delivering systems solutions to meet customer requirements, driving engineering quality and productivity, while developing the next generation of systems engineers.
The Operational Commercial Engines EDSI team is frontline keeping the legacy commercial and military transport / tanker fleets flying safely. EDSI OCE system engineer prime mission is to ensure fleet wide safety, reliability, maintainability while driving a profitable business result.
This position is highly inter-disciplinary as you will work across multiple EDSI programs and interacting with internal and external stakeholders. Travel opportunities may arise depending on project assignments and requirements. Strong technical and communication skills required to drive technical issues to closure, drive resolution to safety issues and to clearly communicate with external customers and the FAA. Candidates with more extensive team leadership experience will be considered for expanded roles in EDSI; those with experience in a portion of the above responsibilities will be evaluated for development and growth opportunities while fulfilling a technical leadership role with support.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform system-level performance and operability analysis utilizing engine, aircraft data and engine simulation
  • Provide propulsion system issue resolution support to the airline customers through P&W representatives / fleet chief / customer technical service
  • Ensure timely delivery of P&W production and overhaul repair engines when system level issues arise. Includes proactive trend monitoring
  • Represent engine design and system integration discipline on various cross-functional teams interfacing with component groups as well as airframe customers
  • Support and facilitate program system engineering process
  • Recommend integrated solutions for technical issues
  • Develop system level information to drive decision making across the program

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
  • 2+ years of engineering experience or an advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some knowledge in thermodynamics and engine performance, transient engine analysis, engine matching, and aircraft performance
  • Some experience with NPSS, Python, and statistical software (i.e. JMP) - desired, but not required (training provided as needed)
  • Experience in managing to deadlines
  • Detail oriented with a curiosity on how things work
