DESCRIPTION:
Provides manufacturing support of electronic products. Including but not limited to:
- Support of manufacturing methods, procedures, systems, tooling, and equipment.
- Implementation of process and product improvements to ensure the longevity of both.
- Engagement with new product releases to ensure smooth transition to manufacturing.
- Writing and maintaining operator work instructions and training the operators when required.
- Analysis and debug of product performance issues related to the product or the manufacturing processes.
- Support product information which includes drawings, BOM’s, ECN’s, CAD files, information sheets, specifications, etc.
- Accountable for evaluating and implementing product modifications from inquiry to completion of ship order in the factory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze and establish manufacturing methods, procedures, and systems to ensure an efficient operation. Implement purchase of appropriate tooling and equipment where necessary.
Troubleshoot and implement corrective action for manufacturing problems.
Provide support in pilot run of new products and ensure elimination of any inherent Manufacturing difficulties.
Review all engineering and product design specifications and drawing requirements and the provisions for tooling, equipment, etc., as required.
Initiate procedures and Capital Budget data for procurement of any and all capital items as related to the entire Operation. Introduce approved capital equipment to Manufacturing.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for product alterations, suggesting design or manufacturing changes for more economic manufacture.
Review, evaluate and implement changes to Manufacturing methods, procedures or equipment to provide standardization and cost reduction. Recommend changes to operating procedures to improve productivity.
Ensure timely orientation of Manufacturing personnel to changes or improvements in methods, procedures, systems, tooling or equipment to ensure support and proper implementation.
Provide root cause analysis on returned products as requested by Production and/or QA.
Support product information initiatives which include Product Documentation (drawings, BOM’s, CAD files, information sheets, specifications, etc.), Design Tasks (layouts, modeling, etc.) and ECN processing.
As required, support product test initiatives by procuring, building and testing products and competitive products.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS. Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical or equivalent experience. Combined with a minimum of three to five years’ experience in design of or support of electronic products and manufacturing engineering related experience. MSEE a plus
- Solid background in Engineering, sufficient to cover all areas of manufacturing with a working knowledge of costs and control thereof.
- Background in Solidworks, Autocad, or equivalent drafting programs.
- Knowledge of various sensor technologies along with experience in electro-mechanical packaging is desirable.
- Able to handle daily production tasks with minimal assistance, including designing and maintaining production fixturing.
- Working level knowledge of specific instrumentation oriented commercial software packages such as LabVIEW for data acquisition, process control (PID), and familiarity with DB s/w (SQL) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of various programming languages such as VB, C#, and PLC ladder logic software and systems, preferred.
